How to Set Up and Use Travel Hacking Toolkit
Travel Hacking Toolkit is an AI-powered travel search and optimization framework that gives Claude Code and other AI assistants access to award flight availability across 27 mileage programs, real GDS cash pricing, hotel comparison, loyalty balance aggregation, and points transfer optimization. It connects to live APIs including Seats.aero for award space, Duffel for cash fares, and AwardWallet for loyalty account balances, and surfaces strategies like hidden city fares, virtual interlining, and cheapest points-to-miles transfer paths. Frequent travelers, points hobbyists, and travel advisors who want AI-driven trip planning with real data — not hallucinated itineraries — will find this toolkit invaluable.
Prerequisites
- Python 3.10 or later with the uv package manager
- Claude Code (for /plugin installation) or another supported AI assistant

- A Duffel API key (DUFFEL_API_KEY_LIVE) for cash flight pricing

Award flight search returns no results or 'API key invalid' error
Verify your SEATS_AERO_API_KEY is correct and active at seats.aero. Note that some mileage programs have limited availability data — try broadening your date range or routing.
Cash pricing fails or returns empty results from Duffel
Ensure DUFFEL_API_KEY_LIVE is set (not a test key). Duffel live keys require approval from Duffel — check your account status at duffel.com/dashboard if the key was recently created.
/plugin install command not recognized
The /plugin marketplace command requires Claude Code. For other clients, clone the repository manually and follow the Python setup instructions in the README, then add the server to your MCP config manually.
