Prerequisites
- Node.js 18 or higher and npm installed
- Git for cloning the repository
- An MCP-compatible client such as Claude Desktop (latest version)
Clone the repository
Clone the todo-list-mcp-server repository to your local machine.

Install all required Node.js packages.
npm installBuild the TypeScript project
Compile the TypeScript source into JavaScript. The output is placed in the dist/ directory.

Verify the path in args is absolute and points to dist/index.js (not src/index.ts). Run `npm run build` again if the dist/ directory is missing.
Task data is lost when the server restarts
The server uses an in-memory store — all tasks are ephemeral and cleared on restart. This is by design for the tutorial implementation. For persistent storage, the underlying data store would need to be replaced with a database.

Ensure you are on Node.js 18 or higher (`node --version`). Delete node_modules and package-lock.json, then run `npm install` again before rebuilding.
