How to Set Up and Use Minecraft Base Client

Minecraft Hack BaseClient is a Java-based open-source foundation for building custom Minecraft 1.8.8 hacked clients using the Minecraft Coders Pack (MCP 918). It ships with a ModuleManager, EventManager, CommandManager, ClickGUI, TabGUI, an IRC client, and an Alt Manager, giving modders a working skeleton to add their own modules and experiment with Minecraft internals. This is a decompiled-source development project, not a pre-built binary.

Prerequisites

  • Java JDK 1.8 and JRE 1.8 installed
  • At least 4 GB RAM available
  • Eclipse IDE (or IntelliJ IDEA) installed
  • Minecraft Coders Pack 918 (for Minecraft 1.8.8) downloaded
  • A legitimate copy of Minecraft 1.8.8
1

Download and decompile MCP 918

Download MCP 918 from the official MCP distribution, extract it, then run the decompile script to generate the deobfuscated Minecraft source code.

# Windows
decompile.bat

# macOS / Linux
bash decompile.sh
2

Clone the BaseClient repository

Clone this repository so you have the custom source files that add the module framework, GUIs, and utility systems on top of the decompiled Minecraft code.

git clone https://github.com/OxideWaveLength/Minecraft-Hack-BaseClient.git
3

Merge sources into MCP

Copy the contents of the repository's `minecraft/` directory into the `src/minecraft/` folder inside your MCP 918 installation, overwriting files where prompted.

cp -r Minecraft-Hack-BaseClient/minecraft/* mcp918/src/minecraft/
4

Import into Eclipse and configure build path

Open Eclipse, import the MCP source as an existing Java project, set the JRE to 1.8, and add `javaws.jar` to the build path. Then recompile with MCP's recompile script.

# After Eclipse setup, recompile:
# Windows
recompile.bat

# macOS / Linux
bash recompile.sh
5

Launch and test in-game

Run the Minecraft client from Eclipse or export as a jar and launch via the MCP startclient script. Press Right-Shift to open the ClickGUI and verify modules load correctly.

# Windows
startclient.bat

# macOS / Linux
bash startclient.sh

Minecraft Base Client Examples

Client configuration

This project is a Java development environment, not an MCP protocol server. There is no claude_desktop_config.json entry. Build and run it as a Minecraft client mod.

// No MCP server config — this is a Minecraft client mod.
// Build with MCP 918 and launch via startclient.bat / startclient.sh

In-game commands

The CommandManager ships with several built-in commands accessible from the Minecraft chat.

- ".help" — list all available commands
- ".bind <module> <key>" — bind a module to a keyboard key
- ".set <module> <setting> <value>" — change a module setting
- ".friend <add|remove> <playername>" — manage your friends list
- ".irc <message>" — send a message to the built-in IRC channel

Troubleshooting Minecraft Base Client

Decompile fails or produces errors

Ensure you are using exactly MCP 918 for Minecraft 1.8.8 and that Java 1.8 is active (`java -version`). Run MCP scripts with the JDK on PATH, not just the JRE.

Eclipse shows hundreds of red errors after import

Right-click the project → Properties → Java Build Path → Libraries, remove any existing JRE, add the JRE 1.8 system library, and also add `javaws.jar` from your JDK's `lib/` directory. Clean and rebuild the project.

Modules do not appear in the ClickGUI

Check that the `ModuleManager` class is properly registering each module in its constructor. If you copied files incorrectly, some module classes may be missing. Compare with the repository's module list: Fly, TestModule, Friends, NameProtect, AdvancedTabGUI.
