Prerequisites
- Python 3.8 or higher (3.10+ recommended)
- PyQt5 5.15+ installed via pip

Clone the repository
Clone the MCP-Server_AI-interaction repository to a permanent location on your machine. The server is run directly from source.

Install all required packages from requirements.txt. Using uv is recommended for faster installs, but pip also works.

The server requires custom instructions to tell Claude how to invoke the ai_interaction tool. Open the rule_for_ai_EN.txt file in the repository and paste its entire contents into Claude Desktop's custom instructions field (Settings → Custom Instructions).
Configure Claude Desktop to load the MCP server
Edit claude_desktop_config.json to register the server. Replace PATH_TO with the absolute path to the mcp_server.py file inside your clone.

PyQt5 window does not appear when Claude calls the tool
Ensure your display environment is set correctly. On Linux, set DISPLAY=:0 in the MCP server environment. On macOS, make sure the terminal app has screen recording or accessibility permissions.
Claude does not automatically invoke ai_interaction
The custom instructions from rule_for_ai_EN.txt must be pasted into Claude Desktop's custom instructions field. Without them, Claude does not know when or how to call the tool.
File paths in the structured output are absolute instead of workspace-relative
Set the workspace path in config.json (created on first run) to match your project root. The server uses this to compute relative paths in the AI_INTERACTION_ATTACHED_FILES output block.
