Prerequisites
- Go 1.21 or higher installed for building the backend
- Node.js 18+ and pnpm for the React frontend
- MongoDB instance (local or Atlas) for the database
- Stripe account and API keys for billing features
- An MCP-compatible client such as Claude Desktop to connect to the built-in MCP server
Fork and clone the repository
Fork the LastSaaS repo on GitHub, then clone your fork locally to begin customizing it for your product.

Copy the example environment file and fill in your MongoDB connection string, Stripe keys, Resend API key for email, and OAuth credentials for the identity providers you want to enable.

Build the Go binary and start the backend server. The MCP server is exposed on a dedicated port alongside the main API.

Install frontend dependencies and start the development server.

Add the running LastSaaS MCP endpoint to your claude_desktop_config.json. The MCP server runs on the port configured in your .env (default 8081).

Confirm the LastSaaS backend is running and the MCP port (default 8081) is reachable. Check your .env for the MCP_PORT setting and ensure no firewall is blocking it.

Run 'go mod tidy' to download missing dependencies, then retry the build. Ensure your Go version is 1.21 or higher with 'go version'.

Verify STRIPE_SECRET_KEY and STRIPE_WEBHOOK_SECRET in your .env match the keys in your Stripe Dashboard. Use test-mode keys (prefix sk_test_) for local development.
